Our Holistic Learning approach to education addresses the unique needs of each child and family. We seek to eliminate poverty through education in a safe and secure, faith-based learning environment. In addition to our core curriculum, we provide an Education Through Music and the Arts curriculum. Each student learns to play the violin, participates in choir, liturgical dance and the visual arts. Faith formation is a journey at Sister Thea Bowman Catholic School deepening ones relationship with God.
Our extended day program provides academic support, skill development, and enrichment. Physical education programs teach our students about fitness, movement, and healthy lifestyles. A master’s level counselor is available to support students’ social emotional well-being.
Education through Music and the Arts (ETM)
One of the components of the holistic learning program is Education Through Music and the Arts (ETM). This approach integrates art and music with language arts skills to encourage excitement for learning. It also provides an innovative educational opportunity to empower children to break the cycle of generational poverty. The fine arts are used as tools for strengthening academics and for heightening inner discipline, focus, self-esteem, creativity, and teamwork.
Teachers participate in the fine arts classes as well, to partner with the artisans in reinforcing skills and to model life-long learning for their students.
