IT IS IN GIVING WE RECEIVE
As the holiday season continues, we know that some families in our school community are still in need. At Sister Thea Bowman School, we are hosting a Canned Goods Drive, along with a collection of hats and gloves to help keep our neighbors warm this winter. We have been blessed in so many ways, and this is our chance to share that kindness with others. Students, families, and staff are invited to donate any canned goods or new winter items they can. Every contribution—big or small—helps make a difference.Thank you for helping us support our school community and spread holiday cheer to those who need it most.
ADVENT PRAYER SERVICE
Our annual Advent Service is just a few weeks away, on Thursday, December 18, at 6:00pm. As you are aware, all students are required to attend. Thanks, in advance, for making sure your child arrives at the school chapel no later than 5:40pm, dressed in plain dark slacks/pants, dark shoes and socks, and plain white shirts/blouses. Jewelry is limited to a plain watch and stud earrings. Please remind family and friends that seating is limited, and that we will start on time.
***Have you turned in your Advent Prayer Service Commitment Form????? If not, a new one is included in this week’s envelope.
Please note that Extended Day is cancelled on the night of the Advent Service.
ANNUAL FUND-WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT
All school families are required to participate in two fundraising events during each school year. The first one is our Annual Fund Drive which began in November. If your family has already sent in their pledge of prayers or a donation, thank you! If your family has not returned the family commitment form, please do so as soon as possible. At this time, only a third of our families have responded. Remember, we need 100% of our families to support our mission. Our success depends on each one of you!
CHRISTMAS BREAK
Our school Christmas break will begin at 12:30p.m. on Friday, December 19th and go through Sunday, January 6. School will resume on Monday, January 6, 2026. Please note that the January staff meeting will be the following Monday, January 12.
WEATHER
Information on school cancellation or early dismissal due to bad weather will be broadcast on television Channel 5. In addition, a phone call will be made through the School Reach notification system. Please contact us immediately if your number has changed, or if you are not receiving the messages that have been sent via this system.
