“CARRY GOD’S LIGHT TO OTHERS”
PRINCIPAL’S NOTE
This week, we prayed about a very important gift of the Holy Spirit, “self-control”. (Gal : 22-23) With our continuing move toward Positive Discipline, we are working with the students to help them start to recognize and use their gift of self-control each day in school. Please work this week with your students to teach them the value of self-control in all situations.
POSITIVE DISCIPLINE
Our Positive Discipline approach empowers students to start to make good decisions without so many consequences and rewards, but it will take time and teamwork on all of our parts to make it successful. We ask that families read, discuss, sign and promptly return any papers sent home by the teacher or principal, so we can maintain good communication within our teacher/parent/student team.
POSITIVE DISCIPLINE IN THE HOME
As we take our first steps, we are working on “Asking” versus “Telling”. In the classroom, it might sound like this: “Where are you supposed to be during reading time?” instead of, “You need to be in your seat right now!”
At home, try practicing posing a question, to give control to your student to make the right choice. It might sound like this: “What do you need to get ready for school tomorrow?” instead of, “For the third time, you need to get your shirt, pants, belt, and shoes ready for tomorrow.”
