PEOPLE OF JOY
What a beautiful day we had Tuesday…full of meeting new friends and much joy. As a part of “Mix-It-Up” Day, students from Immaculate Conception School in Columbia, Illinois, spent the day with our Middle Grade students. Time was spent getting to know each other through team building exercises: a science competition, computer and violin classes, charades, sack lunches and a big green field to play football…all helped build a little more appreciation for each other. We wish to give a sincere thank you to all who made this day possible. One highlight was our time in the chapel sharing music. Our students sang, Angus Dei, while the ICS students shared a song written by Mrs. Karen Lundy titled People of Joy.
GENTE DE ALEGRIA
¡Qué bonita día tuvimos el jueves!… lleno de nuevos amigos y mucha alegría. Parte de “Mix-it-Up” Día, los estudiantes de la escuela Immaculate Conception de Columbia, IL reunieron con los estudiantes aquí de las clases 6, 7, y 8.El tiempo para formar conexiones en la formación de equipos: competición en ciencia, clases de computadora y violín juegas y almuerzo…todo para ayudar apreciación de otro grupo. Demos gracias a todos que hicieron este día posible. Un tiempo especial fue en la capilla donde compartimos cantos, Angus Dei de nuestra escuela y La Gente de Alegría ( con compositor de la parroquia, la señora Karen Lundy.
LIVING ROSARY
Tuesday also found us outside praying the rosary as a school with Madie Dowell, grandmother of alumni Madison and Charles Dowell, leading the way, along with Mrs. Knight. Madison joined us from Althoff High School, while students from ICS and STBCS participated by responding to the prayers. The sun shone and all was right with the world.
EL ROSARIO VIVIENDO
También el martes fue un día especial donde todos los estudiantes oraran el “rosario viviendo” Madie Dowell, abuela de Madison y Carlos Dowell y la señora Knight como lideras. Los estudiantes de ambas escuelas responsaron a las oraciones. El sol trajo luz y todo fue bonito.
REPORT CARD CONFERENCES
Thank you for your attendance at report card conferences last week. We appreciate your understanding of the importance of having your child present, and your willingness to listen and help set goals for the rest of the year. CONFERENCIAS DE NOTAS
Gracias para su asistencia en las conferencias el semana pasada. Apreciamos mucho su compresión de la importancia de las conferencias con sus niños/as y para su participación en las metas de la escuela y su niño para este ano. AWARD MASS
This Friday at 8:30am we will have our quarterly awards Mass over in the chapel. Students who have earned awards will receive certificates for Perfect Attendance, Peacemaker, Honor Roll, or High Honor Roll for the First Quarter. All family members are welcome to attend.
MISA DE PREMIOS
Este viernes al 8:30 vamos tener nuestros premios para el primero cuarto en la capilla. Los estudiantes que tienen Asistencia Perfecta, Persona de la Paz, Alta Notas (Alta y “super alta” para primero cuarto recibirán certificados. Todos miembros de las familias están invitados a la Misa y premios.
TRUNK OR TREAT
Our 11th annual “Trunk or Treat” event will be held tomorrow, Friday, October 31. Students are invited to bring a costume to change into for a 2:00p.m parade through the school. We count on our parents/guardians to make sure that costumes are appropriate for the child’s age and for wearing at a Catholic school event. Traditional Halloween costumes such as skeletons, scarecrows and witches are fine. Costumes/masks of famous singers or stars who use violent, foul or degrading lyrics or images are not allowed, as well as anything bloody and/or violent in nature. Props, including toy guns and swords, etc., are also not allowed. Please note that students do not have to have a costume to participate in Trunk or Treat. Your child should bring a container for the Halloween treats they receive.
Parents/Guardians who are participating are invited to come between 1:30-1:50p.m. A staff person will be on hand to show you where to park your car out on the playground area between the school and the church. Feel free to come in costume and to decorate your car in Halloween style! Have the Halloween treats, (wrapped candy, stickers, and pencils) you plan to hand out in the trunk of your car. Please note that for safety reasons, all entrances to the parking lot will be closed at 2:00pm and won’t reopen until 3:30p.m. dismissal.
After a class has been to each car, they will go back into to their classrooms to enjoy their treats until dismissal time at 3:30p.m. Parents/Guardians are welcome to enjoy some refreshments in the staff room until dismissal time. If you are unsure of the appropriateness of your child’s costume for this event, or if you have any other questions regarding this event, please call the school office. Thanks for all you will do to make our 11th annual Trunk or Treat event a huge success!
GATO O DULCES
Nuestra annual (11 años) celebración de Halloween es viernes, el 31 de octubre. Los niños (a) están invitado a traer su ropa de Halloween que pone a las 14:00. ¡No es una obligación! Necesitan bolsas para sus dulces. Ropa de Halloween es como reyes, reinas, ángeles, brujas, … Ropa que no es apropiado para un escuela Católica incluyan mascaras de “estrellas” que usan idioma violente, sin respeto… y cosas violente y no juguetes de armas.
Padres/cuidadores están invitados a las 13:30 o 13:45. Alguien de la escuela va a dar direcciones para parque entre la escuela y la capilla. Puede adornar su coche. Pone sus dulces… en el gato de su coche.
Por seguridad el parqueo está cerrado a las 14:00 hasta 15:30. Los padres y cuidadores pueden esperar sus niños en la cuarto de maestros. Los niños encontraran para jugar.
SHORTS
The last day to wear uniform shorts and capris is October 31. Uniform slacks are required through March. Thank you for your cooperation.

EXTENDED DAY
The 2nd Session of Extended Day ends next Friday, November 7. If you are interested in your child participating in Session 3, please fill out the attached form and return with your payment by that Friday. Session 3 begins Monday, November 10.
DIA EXTENDIDO
La segunda sesión de Día Extendido termino el viernes, 7 de noviembre. Si tiene interés en la participación de su niño/a en Sesión 3, cumple el formulario y envía con su dinero el viernes. Sesión 3 comenzara el lunes, 10 de noviembre.
